23 June 2007, Orcalab reports:

No calls but orcas nearby

Very exciting! The resident season has started - the A12s have returned. Currently, they westbound off the western boundary of Blackfish Sound. So far they have been totally silent except for a bit of echo location.

Distant calls audible.

Finally, we have heard our first call! The A12s have moved back to Johnstone Strait via Weynton Pass. This morning they were apparently seen at 6:30am off lizard point when they were making their way into the area. This is the first call we have heard since they got "home".

Orcas near mics.

The A12s have become slightly more vocal as they move in closer to Robson Bight. They may be a bit spread out. The tide is now flooding and the southeaster has calmed down.
