16 July 2007, Orcalab reports:

Orcas near mics.

Since about 3am we have been listening to the A12s travel back into the area via Blackfish Sound, Blackney Pass and then Johnstone Strait.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

The A12s rounded Critical Point ashort while ago andare now at the beaches.

No calls but orcas nearby

The A12s turned around to the west shortly after passing the rubbing beaches. They are somewhat spread out, shore to shore, with the majority on the Vancouver Island side, inside the Reserve. There are also humpbacks and dolphins in the same vicinity.

The A12s have continued to move westward. They crossed to the Hanson island side and are currently approaching the Weynton Pass area.

The A12s turned a short while ago and are now eastbound in the Strait.

After passing Critical Point the A12s went to the Main rubbing beach for a short session.

The A12s are heading into Blackfish Sound from Blackney Pass, on a swiftly ebbing tide, calling as they go.
